Prishtina, 28th of November 2015 – As we have informed the public before, Serious Crimes Prosecution Department in the Basic Prosecution in Prishtina, has initiated investigations against the Member of the Parliament of the Republic of Kosova, Albin Kurti, who is suspected for committing the following criminal offenses: Causing General Danger, as stipulated by Article 365 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosova; Use of weapon, as stipulated by Article 375 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosova; and Obstructing Official Persons in performing official duties, as stipulated by Article 409, paragraph 4 in conjunction with paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosova.

Serious Crimes Prosecution Department in the Basic Prosecution in Prishtina, based on Article 173, paragraph 1, sub-paragraph 1.1 of the Criminal Procedure Code, has sent to the named Member of Parliament summonses for attendance in the Office of the Prosecutor in charge of the case, for the purposes of providing a Statement regarding the suspicions for which the named Member of Parliament is being charged. Yet, he has not responded to the State Prosecutor`s summon, therefore, upon the request of the Prosecutor in charge of the case, the Pre-trial Judge has issued the Arrest Warrant.

Today, Police of the Republic of Kosova has implemented the Court`s Order and has brought the defendant Kurti in the Basic Prosecution in Prishtina, who has refused to give his statement before the Prosecutor in charge of the case. Since, defendant Kurti did not respond to Prosecution`s summon, has repeated the committing of the criminal offense and has been in escape, the Prosecutor has filed the request for imposing the detention on remand against him.

State Prosecutor assures the public that it is decisive in respecting all legal provisions for every case, regardless who is the suspect for committing the criminal offense, by respecting the dignity of every individual, by treating everyone equally and impartially, including Members of Parliament and persons who were arrested today.
