Norwegian Embassy continues supporting prosecutorial system in the fight against corruption

 

Prishtina, 4th of December 2015 – Today, Chief State Prosecutor, Aleksandër Lumezi, has hosted for a meeting the Norwegian Ambassador in Kosova, Jan Braathu, who was also accompanied by his Deputy, Kathrina Ramberg.

In this meeting the discussions were regarding the justice system in Kosova, in particular the prosecutorial one, for which Ambassador Braathu has offered support of Norwegian Embassy for professional capacities` building of Justice Institutions.

Ambassador Braathu said that Norwegian Embassy through: “U4 Anti-Corruption Resource Centre” project is interested to provide support for Prosecutors and their supporting staff, by providing trainings for the fight against corruption.

On the other hand, Chief Prosecutor Lumezi after thanking Ambassador Braathu for the continuous support that Norwegian state is providing for the justice system in Kosova, in particular the prosecutorial system, said that a project that would contribute in increasing professionalism of Prosecutors in the fight against corruption is welcomed for him in the capacity of Chief Prosecutor, and for the entire prosecutorial system as well.

In this meeting took place discussions regarding “ICT-CMIS” (Information & Communication Technology-Case Management Information System) project as well. This project, supported by Norwegian Embassy is in the implementation stage, and the main objective behind this project is work facilitation and increasing the effectiveness in professional cooperation between both systems.

Chief Prosecutor Lumezi by appraising the work that is being done through “TIK-SMIL” project said that following the closure of the respective project, coordination of joint professional tasks between prosecutorial and judicial system shall be easier and more effective.
