ANNOUNCMENT FROM THE SPECIAL PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE OF THE REPUBLIC OF KOSOVO
Prishtinë, 22 February 2022 - The Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo announces the public opinion that on February 22, 2022, the Member of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo Duda Balje, was summoned for an interview, regarding her public appearance on the show "Oxygen" dated February 12, 2022, as she stated for having knowledge about a case of sexual violence during the war in Kosovo.
During the interview, the Prosecution requested from MP Balje, data related to what she stated on the show, the name of the victim or any other information in order for the prosecution to contact the victim. However, the MP in this case stated that she does not know the name of the victim neither she has her phone number, nor any information about the possible perpetrator of the crime.
The Prosecution informs that the deputy Balje, could not provide any information for initiating the investigation.
Therefore, the Special Prosecution Office, demands from all the victims of sexual violence during the war in Kosovo, to report the crime to the competent prosecution, which guarantees the protection of their identity. It requires all citizens who have information relevant to such cases to report to the prosecutor's office and not to initially discuss these cases in various entertainment programs.
