KOSOVO PROSECUTORIAL COUNCIL ANNOUNCES VACANCY FOR MEMBERS OF THIS INSTITUTION
Prishtina, 10th of November 2015 - There was held the one-hundred-eighth meeting of Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, chaired by Chairman of Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, simultaneously Chief State Prosecutor, Aleksandër Lumezi. In this meeting, Kosovo Prosecutorial Council members have taken the decision to announce elections for KPC Prosecutor-members coming from seven Basic Prosecutions and Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosova. On the other hand, as far as Appellate Prosecution is concerned, the respective vacancy shall not take place, since KPC member coming from the named Prosecution has already been elected based on the same provisions as set by the new Law. KPC members have also discussed about the Regulation that sets the election procedure of Kosovo Prosecutorial Council members. The discussions were on the criteria as well as selection of KPC Prosecutor-members. In this meeting, KPC members have issued a Directive on KPC gender and ethnic representation. This Directive is issued in the light of the implementation of the afore-mentioned Regulation and, it shall be part of it. Worth of emphasizing is that in this meeting KPC members have also established the Election Committee that will be in charge of election process for new KPC members. KPC members have assigned Florent Muçaj, member of the Prosecutorial Council, to be the Chairman of the named Election Committee; whereas, in the capacity of the members of this Committee were assigned Deputy Chief State Prosecutor Sevdije Morina, from the Office of Chief State Prosecutor and Valdrin Krasniqi, from the Secretariat of the Office of Chief State Prosecutor. In addition, in the capacity of the Deputy Chairman of the named Election Committee was assigned Bajram Ukaj, KPC member; whereas, for the other above-mentioned members of this Committee were also assigned the Deputies, respectively Deputy of Prosecutor Sevdije Morina shall be Prosecutor Besim Kelmendi, and Deputy of Valdrin Krasniqi shall be Merita Gaka. The named elections shall be held during the Annual Prosecutors` Conference, which will be held on 5th of December 2015.
