BLERIM ISUFAJ IS ELECTED KPC CHAIRMAN

Prishtina, 14th of January 2016 – There was held the one-hundred-eleventh meeting of Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPC), chaired by Chairman of Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, simultaneously Chief State Prosecutor, Aleksandër Lumezi.

In this meeting, new KPC members in addition to giving their oath, as item of the agenda had election of the Chairperson of Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, too.

Based on the procedural obligations, the nominations for Chairperson of Kosovo Prosecutorial Council were submitted by members of this Council, Bahri Hyseni – Prosecutor in the Basic Prosecution of Ferizaj, and Blerim Isufaj, Prosecutor in the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosova.

Ten (10) KPC members with eight (8) votes in favour have elected for the KPC Chairperson, Blerim Isufaj, Prosecutor in the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosova.

KPC Vice-Chairperson was assigned member of the Council, Prosecutor of the Appellate Prosecution, Idain Smailji. Whereas, current KPC Chairman, Aleksandër Lumezi, has requested from new members to bring reforms, changes and show dedication. Lumezi, said that it is the last moment for the prosecutorial system to be reformed. He has also said that within this system exist weakness, but in his view, the weakness that exist shall not be considered as obstacles in the work, but on the contrary, there is needed motivation for as soon improvement as possible.

This was the first meeting of Prosecutorial Council with the new members` composition, who today have also given their oath.
