A workshop was held for drafting the Draft Commentary on the Code of Ethics for Prosecutors
Prishtina, January 17, 2019 - The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, in cooperation with Levizjen FOL, KDI and the Dutch organization - CILC, and with the support of the Embassy of the Netherlands in Kosovo, has organized a workshop for drafting the Commentary Code of Ethics on Prosecutor's Conduct, attended by the Chairperson of the Prosecutorial Council, Mr. Bahri Hyseni, Deputy Chairman of KPC, Mr. Arben Ismajli, Deputy Chief State Prosecutor, Sevdije Morina, chief prosecutors and other prosecutors from all prosecutions of Kosovo.
The KPC Chair, Mr. Bahri Hyseni, said on this occasion that the Commentary on the Code of Ethics for the Prosecutor's Conduct is an important and highly valuable guide to the conduct of prosecutors and is an instrument aimed at commenting on independence, impartiality, honesty, professionalism and transparency of state prosecutors, the values that will ensure public confidence in the work of prosecutors and promote the citizen's perceptions of the prosecutorial system.
One of the drafters of this draft of the Code of Conduct for Prosecutors, the Deputy Chief State Prosecutor, Sevdije Morina, stressed that the country's prosecutorial system will be enriched with a very significant document, which contains different examples for implementing core values in line with evolution and future developments.
The purpose of this workshop was to discuss, comment and suggestions for compiling a comprehensive comment that provides relevant guidance and clarification on the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct for Prosecutors as a document of principles and moral norms designed to promote the integrity of justice system.
The commentary will complement the implementation of the moral conduct of prosecutors and is in harmony with the ethical standards and of the EU countries, which derive from the experiences and good practices, while an example of this ethic deals with the Netherlands.
