Dutch support for the prosecutorial system is evaluated

Pristine, 18th April 2019- The Chairman of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, Bahri Hyseni, hosted a meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Kosovo, Gerrie Willems, and Regional Coordinator of the Rule of Law Network for Dutch Embassies in the Western Balkans, Dicky Methorst-de Bie, with whom he talked about a variety of topics related to areas of mutual co-operation.

The Chairperson Hyseni informed Ambassador Willems on the concrete commitments of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council to accomplish three main objectives: accountability, professionalism and transparency in the fight against crime, corruption and other negative occurrences in Kosovo. “We, with the help of the Dutch Embassy and its experts, have drafted some important documents, such as the Code of Ethics for Prosecutors' and Commentary of this Code, which also strongly support the practical application of integrity, dignity, independence, impartiality, transparency and accountability, which in fact has created concrete mechanisms for implementing the principles of justice in Kosovo, so we are very grateful for your support, " told Hyseni to Willems.

Ambassador Willems conveyed encouraging messages about engagement and implementation of legality in Kosovo, saying it is very important that the Kosovo prosecutorial system be supported to ensure fair and impartial processes. "The Kingdom of the Netherlands has found the opportunity to support and cooperate in the future for the realization of the objectives and standards of the prosecutorial system of Kosovo," said Willems.

Chairman Hyseni and Ambassador Willems agreed to work together for the realization of various projects, while appreciating the cooperation so far between the two countries.
