AMBASSADOR HARGREAVES SUPORTS SPECIALPROSECUTION’S WORK BY DONATION TO FACILITATE THE WORK OF THE PROSECUTORS
Prishtinë, 23 April 2024 – Chief Prosecutor of the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo z. Blerim Isufaj, today hosted the ambassador of Great Britain in Prishtinë , Mr. Jonathan Hargreaves.
At the beginning of this meeting chief prosecutor Blerim thanked the ambassador of Great Britain in Prishtinë , Mr. Jonathan Hargreaves for visiting the Special Prosecution, stressing that his presence in this institution is proven confirmation of support for the Special Prosecution and moreover support to fight crime and high-level corruption.
Next, Chief Prosecutor Isufaj, informed those present about the role, structure and the functioning of the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo, as well as about the work and challenges faced by this institution in fulfilling its mandate in consolidating the rule of law in the Republic of Kosovo.
In this meeting as well Chief Prosecutor Isufaj, emphasizes that despite challenges they face, the prosecutors of this prosecution throughout their work are guide only by the values of independence, professionalism and the ethics in order to achieve the results of the work with courage and only as defined by the Constitution and applicable laws.
On this occasion, the Chief Prosecutor of the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo Mr. Blerim Isufaj and the Ambassador of Great Britain in Pristina, Mr. Jonathan Hargreaves, signed an agreement for receiving a donation - equipment for video-recording the interview of the defendants, donated to the PSRK by the British Embassy in Pristina.
Chief Prosecutor thanked the ambassador Hargreaves, for this donation, stressing that this help is valuable and important to support the prosecution work in fighting crimes and to strengthen the capacities to ensure justice
Chief Prosecutor of the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Blerim Isufaj thanked the British Ambassador for the support given over the years in the establishment and development of the professional, ethical and logistical capacities of the Special Prosecution.
On the other hand, Ambassador Hargreaves expressed his support for Chief Prosecutor Isufaj, with the aim of strengthening the rule of law and fighting corruption and organized crime, emphasizing the readiness of the British Embassy to organize training for prosecutors and support staff, with the aim of the implementation of legal and institutional reforms.
