JOINT PRES RELEASSE FROM THE SPECIAL PROSECUTION , KOSOVO CUSTOMS AND KOSOVO POLICE INSPECTORATE
Eight customs officials and one police officer are arrested for abuse of position or official authority and accepting bribes
Prishtinë, 18 nëntor 2023 – The Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo (SPRK) announces the public that, in full cooperation and coordination with the Customs of Kosovo, and the relevant mechanisms, supported by the Kosovo Police an action has been taken for searching eleven locations.
The Special Prosecution announces that the searching was carried out with the aim of gathering evidence and arresting nine (9) officials suspected of the criminal offenses of "Misuse of official position or authority" and "Taking a bribe".
The suspicions are based on a long investigation led by the Special Prosecution and implemented by the Kosovo Customs and the Police Inspectorate, as a police officer was also involved in the investigation.
During this action, evidence was collected that supports the suspicion that these nine (9) officials, eight (8) of whom are Customs officials and one (1) police officer from the Border Police, were involved in the crimes they are suspected of.
Also, from this action, other important items were seized for further investigative procedures, such as:
Twenty (20) official seals of the Kosovo Customs
Ten (10) phones along with four (4) sim cards
A 9 mm pistol with three magazines and 9 rounds, with a permit
Sixteen (16) pieces of unofficial ammunition.
