STATEMENT OF THE KPC REGARDING THE DEBATES HELD IN THE ASSEMBLY OF KOSOVO

Pristina, 20 April 2023 - The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, regarding the discussions held today in the Assembly of Kosovo, especially by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, which are related to the work of the Chief Prosecutor of the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo, declares that, as far as the case of the now deceased Mr. Dino Asanaj , we inform the public that all the necessary investigative and procedural actions have been taken by the prosecutor of the case and after the assessment of the factual situation, information has been provided in real time regarding this case.

The KPC emphasizes that for the sake of transparency before public opinion and in accordance with the law, it invites anyone who has other information related to this case, including the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, the ministers and deputies of the Assembly, as well as other state officials and citizens of the country, to come and provide the information related to this case precisely in the institution where the place is to provide the details that may be unknown until now.

The KPC emphasizes that the prosecutorial institutions are fully ready and committed to legally handle every piece of information of interest for the enlightenment of all the cases in question.

Consequently, the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council informs the general public that, as far as the "Sopa" case is concerned, it is true that already the Chief Prosecutor of the SPRK, Mr. Blerim Isufaj was the prosecutor of the case in the initial phase of the investigation, but we inform you that in the meantime this case has been handled by another prosecutor and it is good to ask the prosecutor of the case, because only he can give adequate answers.

Also, the KPC denies the untrue statements that there have been cases before but some of them were not dealt with, so this statement turns out to be untrue and of course for this case as well, if there is such information, let it be declared publicly and to know which case it was and who handled it.

The KPC declares that it supports and protects with all available legal means the professional work of all prosecutors of the Republic of Kosovo and in this case also the work of the SPRK and its prosecutors, who commit and work to implement the laws of the country and not to be attacked without facts in any situation and for agendas that are not in the domain of the institution of the State Prosecutor.
